How The Outsiders Film Was Made

In 1980, Jo Ellen Misakian, a librarian at the Lone Star School in Fresno, California, wrote to Francis Ford Coppola on behalf of her seventh and eighth grade students about adapting The Outsiders. When Coppola read the book, he was moved. And the rest is history. The following gallery consists of letters, clippings and photos collected and donated from the Jo Ellen Misakian collection.
